Maryam, I was born into the Ahmaddiya sect, and although it is more pacifist than most, they still deal with marital issues in the mosque. This is a toned down version of Shariah and women are still suffering. I know of a couple of my mother's friends who are being subjected to abuse from their husbands, and only when they present sufficient evidence (like a tape recording of the husband's abusive phone calls), do they get some justice. Why must women present evidence, whilst men escape the punishment? Why must women always need to justify themselves, their feelings, their insecurity in a marriage?

This has to stop.
